As gongfu brewing has grown in popularity, preferences have gradually shifted toward smaller teapots. Larger pots, however, remain highly capable brewing tools and can excel with certain teas. Puer, Liuan, Liubao, and red teas often respond particularly well to lighter leaf ratios and longer steeps, revealing a different side of their character. This style of brewing can soften rough edges and make imperfections that stand out in concentrated gongfu preparation less pronounced, allowing the tea to settle into a more easygoing and forgiving expression. Larger pots can also be more forgiving for the brewer, making them especially enjoyable for relaxed sessions and unhurried daily drinking. 

Beyond questions of brewing approach, older teapots like this one come with their own set of tradeoffs. Many are valued for exceptional clay and unique character, though they may also possess individual quirks not commonly found in modern productions.
