2001 Xiaguan Green Mark Bing Wang

The 2001 Xiaguan Green Mark Bing Wang, often referred to in English as the King Bing, was a special production commissioned by Ye Binghuai and made at Xiaguan Tea Factory.

The consensus among collectors seems to be that the material used for this production is from Yiwu. There are a few reasons for believing this. The original bamboo tong is stamped with “Yiwu Zhengshan Spring Tips” (易武正山春尖茶), Ye Binghuai typically used Yiwu material for his commissioned productions, and the tea itself has a refinement that feels different from standard Xiaguan productions and, in some ways, reminiscent of Yiwu. There is some disagreement on this point, however, with others believing the material came from Bulang. 

Regardless of where the material came from, there is still something about this tea that is distinctly Xiaguan. Perhaps that comes down to the factory's processing. It still has the bite and strong mouthfeel that I tend to associate with Xiaguan. 

These cakes have undergone natural dry storage in Taiwan. The profile is highly aromatic and complex, with a nice woodiness, resinous notes, and a noticeable sweetness. The liquor is oily and viscous, coating the mouth and throat. There is a pronounced huigan, and the aftertaste lingers on and on.  

The energy is strong but calming and grounding. 

This is a tea I really like, and I'm happy to be able to offer it at this price point.
